Every object that needs a decision slows the packing down. So make the decisions first. Sort the house into four piles: what is moving, what stays with the property, what needs a separate decision later, and what leaves through donation, recycling, sale, or disposal. Nobody is asking for a dramatic declutter. Obvious non-movers should not eat packing materials, transport space and unpacking time.
Pack for the next home, not the last one. A serving dish from the basement may belong in the new kitchen. Work supplies scattered around the house become one office box. Label every box with its destination room, roughly what is inside, any handling note, and a mark on the ones to open early. Unlabelled cartons cannot be sorted in a hurry.

Ordinary room contents are what this service is for. Some things are not ordinary. Passports, financial records, keys, medication, cash, jewellery, keepsakes: separate them before helpers arrive. Hazardous materials, plants, artwork, instruments, wine, heavy objects and high-value electronics can carry mover, insurer, or storage requirements outside a standard packing scope. Settle those with the mover or the relevant specialist first.
One box size does not fit the house. Books go in small cartons a person can still lift. Soft goods fill the big ones. Dishes want clean wrapping and a stable orientation. Hardware gets bagged and labelled with the furniture it came off. Bins you already own are fine, and so are reused boxes when they are clean and sound. Settle the supply question early.

The new layout will break old habits. A Toronto condo can mean shallower pantry depth, one room doing three jobs, and firm limits on what may sit in a corridor. A house spreads belongings across an entry, a basement, a garage. Place things by reach, by how often they get used, and by the storage that actually exists. Temporary categories are fine. The final system can wait a few ordinary days.
